Small Plate, Big Flavor
| Roasted Cauliflower, fig jam, goat cheese panini and meatball, whipped ricotta, ciabatta panini (excuse the snapchat filter)
I am a person of lists: to do lists, lists of recommended films and books, places to visit, and of course cafes and restaurants to try out. Among this list is Ronsky's, a cafe in Newton, MA. This small - there are a total of three tables in this establishment - cafe inspired by Chef Ron Suhanosky offers a variety of coffees, pastries, panini sandwiches, and salads. A pleasant atmosphere with a wall filled with ornate, decorative plates envelops you as you wait for your food to arrive.
Presented on small square plates, as pictured above, sandwiches are placed in front of you - as my mom commented after: who knew a sandwich could be served on such a small plate. By shear magic the chef is able to fit two green olives on the plate, as well.
After taking an artsy photo of my meal with the appropriate angle, I took my first bite and was met pleasantly with a burst of flavor: the fig jam and goat cheese made a perfect combination and the surprising chose of cauliflower. This lunch creation resulted in a harmonious bite of yumminess (couldn't think of a more appropriate adjective if I am being honest).
Although we ordered our own prospective sandwiches my mom and I cannot help but try the other's so I bit into her meatball ciabatta sandwich and was pleasantly surprised yet again by the savory seasoning of the moist meatballs and the fluffiness of the whipped ricotta - almost as if it was homemade whipped cream.
My only regret is not trying one of the their coffee options - I had my eye on a cappuccino - and a sweet delight. I wish they had their pastries on display, or perhaps there were none left upon my arrival, either way it would have been nice to at least admire the various cookies and muffins offered even if I myself am trying to eat "healthier" - whatever that means.
Needless to say I have found a new lovely option for a late lunch or afternoon snack that isn't in Boston, but close by to the suburbs. Perhaps I will even be inclined to start using smaller plates...
